Jadan Johnson is not like most other 15 year olds. Instead of spending all of his time roaming the high school hallways, enjoying the company of his peers, and learning how to drive with other teens in class he is taking courses at Munro College and is also a CEO. He has done more than most people get to do in their entire lives. He sat down for an interview with The Jamaican Blogs and told them all about his story and how he got to be where he is today.
He started out at Greater Portmore Primary school in Jamaica. He was a bright an talented young boy with big dreams. In 2009 when he was just 10 years old, Johnson started what would turn into a successful company. He began a streaming media channel online that he called Vybz Media. Now it is a public relations and marketing firm. He has 12 people that work with him. After creating the online television channel and seeing how popular it became Johnson decided to create a magazine as well. He said that he wanted to make sure that the company wasn’t just focused on digital media and reached out to all different media avenues.
Johnson told of how when he started the online television channel he would go on USTREAM and broadcast while everyone else in the house was asleep. He didn’t sleep much but it was worth it. He said that it started out slow at first but then all of a sudden he was getting thousands of views per day. He said that the future is unclear at this point but he is going to keep doing what he has been doing in the hopes that when he is gone he will know that he had made an impression on people.
When asked what advice he would give to youngsters out there that would like to do things like this for themselves he said that you need to get out of your comfort zone. You have to take some risks in order to get rewards. Do not attempt to do it alone though. He said that seeking out a mentor and support is instrumental to developing your own business. Finally he stated that people will try to bring you down but don’t give up. He says to let the haters be your motivation to be a success.
