Michigan Teen Arrested For Using Instagram to Threaten School Shooting

By Victor Trammell

Over the weekend, police in Schoolcraft, Michigan made an arrest after a 14-year-old student at a school in the city’s public school district took to Instagram to post an ominous threat to “shoot his school up.”

According to WZZM Channel 13, a local news source, the unidentified teenage boy who made the online threat was arrested by officers with the Schoolcraft Police Department on Saturday (October 8th). The boy is currently being held in Michigan’s Kalamazoo County Juvenile Home where he awaits further due process in the criminal justice system.

School officials made a criminal report over the weekend after a preliminary investigation of this serious matter was finalized. The police have not revealed what school the boy who made this threat attends. However, law enforcement officials do not believe the boy was helped by anyone else and has acted alone in his plot to kill people at school.

The boy’s cryptic social media-based threat to wreak terror and death on students and teachers reads as follows:

“I’m the white kid that shoots up your school/ AK-47 to the head boom boom/ I’m sick of all these people calling me a loser/ This is your fault now I’m the school shooter,” read the boy’s Instagram post.

The boy is being held of charges of making terrorist threats against a state education institution. WZZM Channel 13 also reported that if the boy is convicted on these charges after being indicted as an adult, he could face up to 20 years in prison.

Police have asked anyone with more information about the boy’s violent plot to contact the Schoolcraft Police Department at 269-679-5600. People can also call the Silent Observer at 269-343-2100.
