Professional basketball megastar Lebron James (pictured) has been given “The King” as his nickname due to the way he has ruled opponents on the NBA’s world stage.
However, take away the three NBA championship rings, the multiple Finals and regular season MVP awards, and the boatloads of All-Star Game appearances, and you will still have a royally established man who has carried more than anyone could imagine him holding on the shoulders of his 6’8″ and 250-plus pound frame.
The previous statement does not refer to the modestly-talented teams he has single-handedly led to the NBA Finals in the past.
The major and more important weight James has carried over the course of his 15-year career is the valor that is needed to not choose “commerce over conscience,” as his great NBA champion predecessor Kareem Abdoul-Jabar once wisely quoted. Following a trail first blazed by Jalen Rose, another NBA player who competed in the era before him, James used his charitable conscience to launch a children’s school right in his original community.
Though James is playing basketball for the NBA’s Lakers franchise in the glitzy glow of Los Angeles, California, Akron, Ohio is home to the 33-year-old hardwood superstar. Last year, headlines started appearing everywhere about the Lebron James Family Foundation’s plans to start a primary education institution called the “I Promise School.” In late July of 2018, the James’ charity organization and its community partners materialized those plans.
Here is a list of some of the great deeds the “I Promise School” will be performing for its children and their families:
TheBlackHomeSchool.com congratulates Mr. James, the key stakeholders of the Lebron James Family Foundation, and other community partners who were responsible for the opening of the “I Promise School” in Akron Ohio this week.
