Teen Raises College Tuition By Selling Newspapers For 5 Years

By Victor Trammell

Teaching your children the importance of being self-sufficient by working hard and saving their own money is truly the best gift you can give that keeps on giving.

A teenager from Memphis, Tennessee has exhibited that gift and paid for his college education in full. According to Q13 Fox, a local Memphis news source, 17-year-old Kevuntez King (pictured) started selling newspapers on Sundays when he was 12-years-old.

Kevuntez’s goal was to raise money to secure a college education for himself in a country like the U.S.A., that in systemically sound fashion, aggressively denies poor ethnic minorities the ability receive their formal education for the purpose of living the American dream.

The “American Dream” is basically the ability to attain a good education, work a great job, and earn the money sufficient enough to pay for building a household that affords you the ability to take good care of your hopeful spouse and children in the long run.

The first step of course, is to gain a degree from a good university. Achieving this feat could possibly afford you the opportunity to get a good job out of college that will pay you a salary capable of granting you a genuine mid to upper middle-class lifestyle.

Kevuntez wanted to accumulate this for himself without using the government or academic scholarships to pay his way. “I just stay away from the negativity and try to always be positive,” Kevuntez told a local media source in an exclusive interview.

While growing up in a household with a single black mother, Kevuntez understood the adversities he would face in his mission to live the American dream as a young adult. His five-year run of dedicated work as a youth helped him overcome those adversities.

Kevuntez has been accepted into Tennessee State University after paying the tab to attend college by himself. He says that surrounding himself with supportive people has helped him achieve his goal.

“Make sure you surround yourself with people that’s trying to go up in life and not trying to bring you down. Just stay positive and always believe in yourself and push for it,” he told a local Memphis news source.
