White School Kids Turn Their Backs on All Black Basketball Team

By Victor Trammell

Overt racism at a high school in the U.S. state of Missouri had a school superintendent on his heels issuing a public apology after a disturbing incident during a school sporting event.

According to The Grio, Dr. Scott Patrick (pictured left), the superintendent of Warrensburg Schools had to do some damage control after students at Warrensburg High School turned their backs on the black players from Center High School as their were names were announced before a game this past week.

Someone in the crowd (pictured right) was holding up a Trump sign. A video went viral capturing the whole incident.

“I was disturbed by the video. It was obviously inappropriate conduct on the behalf of a small number of our students. So that upset me. From the very beginning, we regretted that it happened and I apologize on behalf of our students and our school for the incident,” Patrick said in a public statement, which was released December 13th.

“I was like wow. You guys are playing an all-black basketball team and you’re all white and it’s just, you turned around, hold up a Trump sign and I thought it was very racist,” said 20- year-old Center High graduate Antonia Nunn, the person who recorded the video.

“It was rude. I didn’t like it at all. It wasn’t okay,” Nunn continued.

Since Republican president-elect Donald Trump won his position to become “leader of the free world,” constant incidents of racism at America’s public schools have been on the rise. Trump himself has even publicly shared his displeasure over how many of his supporters have been acting while he was campaigning and after he won.

“You people were vicious, violent, screaming, ‘Where’s the wall? We want the wall!’ Screaming, ‘Prison! Prison! Lock her up!’ I mean, you are going crazy. I mean, you were nasty and mean and vicious and you wanted to win, right?” Trump said December 16th at a rally on his “Thank You” tour in Orlando, Florida.

More offensive than an obvious act of racism is white denial of it and an attempt to define it as something else. This is why it continues to happen. There is a infection that causes people not be able to see and process what is right in front of them. It’s Agnosia. The inability to recognize objects by use of the senses. Some whites seem to have a psychological form of it. They don’t recognize frank bigotry even when they are staring it in the face. They simply redefine it or look the other way, calling the elephant in the living room a sofa. Smh.
